What is the difference between In-House and Travel soccer?
In our recreational program, all children who register on time will be assigned to a team, and will receive equal playing time. Ability is not a factor, and all interested players are welcome. Coaches usually are parent volunteers who offer to coach. Travel soccer is a competitive program. All players are welcome to register if not already invited to a team. Not all players who register will be placed on a roster, and a try-out may be scheduled. Once asked to join, playing time is not guaranteed. Travel is a highly competitive environment.

Who should play travel soccer?
Please realize that travel soccer is not for everyone, and that in many cases, a player and his or her family may be best served by our in-house program. To be successful in travel soccer, children should show a high level of ability, and their families should recognize that a greater commitment, both in terms of attendance at practices and games is required.

Can my child play up a division?
If a parent feels their child is ready to play in an older division, please email [email protected] prior to the start of the season.  Once we receive your request, you will receive Play Up Waiver and your child will be transferred to the older division upon submission of the Form.

Will there be a fundraiser?
The fundraiser will be announced at the start of the season.

Does Highlander Soccer Club issue refunds?
All refund requests must be sent to [email protected].  HSC reserves the right to approve or deny the request.

When does the season start and end?
The Spring Season season starts on or around April 1st and Fall Season starts on or around September 1st. The season typically lasts for 8-9 weeks.

Can I request a coach?
HSC understands that parents and/or children may have a preferred coach.  However due to the number of requests and in the attempt to make fair teams, not all requests will be honored.  If a special condition exists, please email [email protected].

When are practices held?
Practices for in-house soccer are at the coach's discretion.  Generally practices are one to two nights a week for 1 hour.
Practices for travel soccer are generally 2 nights a week for 2 hours.

When are games played?
Games are played every Sunday during the season.  Recreational games can be played between 12PM-5PM.  Travel games are determined by the home team.

Do I have to volunteer?
We require all participants volunteer.  A volunteer check must be turned into your coach no later than the second practice.  HSC reserves the right to prohibit participation until all fees are paid.  If you absolutely cannot volunteer, you will be charged the $100 volunteer fee.  Volunteer checks will be returned at completion of your volunteer hours and after an approved HSC board member signs off on participation.  We require 2 hours per family.

Are games or practices cancelled due to bad weather?
Games or practices are not cancelled unless there is lightning/thunder or other extreme weather events.  All inquiries for practice should be sent to your coach.  HSC will offer text notifications for cancelled games, however you must opt in for text message alerts.  Instructions on how to opt in will be emailed to participating parents once teams are assigned.
